BNBuilders + Northwest Harvest

For more than five years, locally owned and regionally operated BNBuilders has been an ardent supporter of Northwest Harvest. One of the first projects they took on for us was the remodel of our Cherry St. Food Bank in Seattle. For this remodel they completely revamped our volunteer staging area and break room. They also added a second door into the food bank which created a better flow of clients as well as making it easier on the staff when unloading deliveries of food.

NWH Director of Operations Michael Youssi with BNB Project Manager Peter Ottele.

Three years ago, BNB helped us with the enormous task of the remodel of our 94,000 square foot warehouse in Kent. This was a massive year-long project which BNB delivered on time and on budget. Incredible!

Last year, they helped us by adding four new offices over the loft of the food bank now being used by our Partner Programs team.  Currently they are adding additional office space for the food bank staff as well as adding a clean room for our volunteers to use for processing food in our Spokane warehouse.

BNB also jumped in to support our "Bag it Better" program aimed at making a serious reduction in the number of plastic bags used at food banks across the state. Their donation to this initiative allowed us to provide our clients with hundreds of reusable cloth bags.

As if this support wasn't enough, every winter BNB hosts a large food drive to benefit Northwest Harvest. To date these food drives have brought in more than 7,000 pounds of non-perishable goods for our neighbors in need.

Partners like BNB are so vital the the success of the Northwest Harvest mission. We are in awe of their generous spirit and dedication.

We can't thank BNB enough for what they do for us, but to at least formally acknowledge their support we presented BNB with a thank you plaque. It stated:

Thank you for donating thousands of dollars in services to retrofit Northwest Harvest’s Kent warehouse, supplying food to the hungry every holiday season, volunteering and donating services for the Cherry Street Food Bank, providing cloth grocery bags for our Bag it Better” project and sharing your great counsel, guidance and expertise.

For your leadership and inspiration, you have the heartfelt gratitude of Northwest Harvest and the people we serve.

  1. I just received your newsletter and am responding to
    Mike Regis' invitation to comment.

I am horrified that the number of needy has gone up so much, and that the reason for it is the greed and
corruption of Wall St. and Central Banks, and the
government "bailouts" of those plutocrats. I am a
widow, disabled, surviving pretty well by living out of Washington state, but still far from home.
Why should I give?--well, I would if I hadn't already given to other charities this year. But
I want to say that our "two parties" in Washington D.C. have sold us down the river from l980, (beginning of Reagan era) to the present, (Obama era).
